Social / DEFINED TERM

Engagement Rate

The percentage of people who interact with your content (likes, comments, shares, clicks) relative to the total audience who saw it.

IN DEPTH

Engagement rate is the primary metric for measuring social media content effectiveness. It varies by platform - Instagram averages 1–3%, Facebook 0.5–1%, and LinkedIn 2–5% for business content. A high engagement rate signals that content resonates with the audience and can increase organic reach through platform algorithms. Improving engagement involves posting at optimal times, using visual content, asking questions, and creating shareable formats.
